The Big 12 Conference is a college athletic conference of twelve schools located mostly in the central US. There are many great football teams in the Big 12 Conference, and when the league was formed, it was decided that the top team from the South Division would play the top team from the North Division at the end of the season to determine the conference champion. The Gator Bowl selects a Big 12 team twice every four years, and in the two years that it does not, the Sun Bowl does.
